The role

The blu Program Manager directly supports the Group Commercial Director (GCD), blu (CEO FV), in overseeing the coordinated activities of the blu Leadership Team (bLT) and the Fontem Leadership Team (FLT) to deliver the strategic outcomes required for the success of blu; through this oversight the Program Manager will manage project-level activity and ensure overall program goals are met, on time and in full.

The role spans the whole end to end value chain of blu and requires the ability to work in partnership across colleagues of every level and have the personality and force of character to deliver results without the need to lean on organisational hierarchies. As a member of FLT and bLT and through continuous access to its other, cross-functional members, the role holder will play a significant role in creating a positive environment for multi-functional teamwork which is critical to the success of blu.

The Program Manager plays a critical role in providing visibility of all key projects and raising early warning flag to the Group Commercial Director when a particular key deliverable is at risk for whatever reason.

We are looking for someone who wants to take on this opportunity for a period of 6 months at which point there may be the possibility to extend.

Key accountabilities

  • Integrated blu program plan and regular progress monitoring and management, ensuring program alignment to the strategic direction of the organisation.
  • Coordination and alignment of key tracking tools used variously by OPEX, bLT and FLT, supporting the GCD to use wherever possible a single set of tracking metrics.
  • Set up of tools and standards to manage the program and provide visibility to other key stakeholders.
  • Ongoing review of key stakeholders across the program and definition of the interests of each group.
  • Resource management and utilization across projects.
  • Cross-project interdependency management.
  • Risks and issues management; proposal of mitigation plans.
  • Transition affected areas to new ways of working, including design and implementation of new processes.

Skills & experience

  • Strong experience in project management, gained through managing complex projects.
  • Outstanding core project management capabilities (scope identification & control, stakeholder management, program planning, risk & issue management, status reporting, time & budget management, benefits analysis).
  • Good understanding of the wider vision, goals and objectives of the organisation.
  • Good understanding of the management structure, politics, and culture of the organisation.
  • Strong people skills, ability to build positive and productive relationships and influence at all levels.
  • Good chaos management and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and with significant ambiguity.
  • Excellent English language skills.
  • Strong communicator; ability to convey complex issues concisely and accurately.
  • Agile, flexible, dynamic in way of working.
  • Ability to work alone and be self-generating.
  • Expert use of standard MS Office or equivalent project, presentational and analytical tools
  • Assertive; readiness to press teams to take remedial action when required.
  • 1 or more other EU languages.
  • Experience of managing a senior team, achieving high level of performance and employee engagement.
