The role

The Market Expansion Deployment Lead is responsible for driving and coordinating activities to expand the blu portfolio to new markets. This role will provide support and functional expertise in the area of developing launch plans and deployment of Global Toolkits in local markets. The position supports the drive of the growth objectives of the Divisions, clusters and the markets, supporting the delivery of the overall IMB business objectives.

Whilst delivered locally through the market teams, the Market Expansion Manager will be jointly responsible for ensuring onboarding is managed efficiently, on time, on budget and in line with strategy. The primary focus of the role is to guide and support markets through the launch process and deployment of test & learn scenarios and brand & activation toolkits. He/she will be collaborating closely with IMB teams (Division/cluster/market), third parties, agencies and external service providers to ensure the relevant materials, information, insights and reporting structures are in place for execution.  

The Market Expansion Deployment Lead will ensure clear communication between the Fontem teams, MSC, PCC, etc., and the local market representatives. This position requests for a high level of independency, drive and cultural empathy. The role encompasses the whole field of launching the blu portfolio in a new market, including channels, marketing, digital, activation and considers all stakeholders: divisions, clusters, markets, trade-partners and consumers. At least 30% of traveling is required in this position.

Key accountabilities

  • Develop and manage launch plans with the market teams, using FV processes with milestones and identifying/mitigating risk.
  • Provide a feedback and learning process that enhances the market expansion model during and post each market launch. Share successes, risks and resolutions as best practice information across markets and through governance structure.
  • Embed and facilitate the utilisation of the different global toolboxes in the new markets (the tool box covers all areas of change management applicable to this project including planning, communication, new ways of working & evaluation), identifying issues and developing resolutions with market project teams and division
  • Make sure the legal requirements and regulatory environment of new markets are clear and understood by all relevant parties like the Global marketing and Manufacturing departments.
  • Evaluate activities (performance indicators) and recommend improvements where needed
  • Co-create the go to market approaches for new markets, starting with market & consumer insights and the route to market structure.
  • Actively engages and manages all key stakeholders, ensuring brand activations are aligned with the Global CMO brand agenda, the IMB business plan and the local market needs.
  • Recognize and anticipate pro-actively on bottlenecks that could delay projects.
  • As the ‘go to’ person for the project you will work closely with senior stakeholders to provide the right information and recommendations to support great decision making

Skills & experience

  • Problem solving skills & the ability to work collaboratively are key in order to find solutions for complex challenges that arise
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build great relationships with your project team and key senior stakeholders
  • Ability to pull together information & opinions from different sources, make decisions and form clear, confident recommendations
  • Positive, pragmatic and driven. Ability to switch effortless between dealing with creative, technical and commercial teams and firmly stand your ground when needed
  • Experience in leading successful projects with a positive ‘can do’ approach. Talented at juggling lots of different tasks and working out the best way to overcome problems as well as being great at working with people.
  • Speaks fluent English and preferably 1 to 2 other languages
  • Worked in multiple countries and is culturally aware
  • Prior experience in working in a challenging target driven Sales & Marketing environment, preferably in a disruptive category
  • Flexible, agile and resourceful
  • Business degree or equivalent
