The role

The NGP Technology Implementation Engineer will work on new technology projects and drive product manufacturing capability and manufacturing process introductions/improvements at both Fontem and partner factories.

 

Experience with tool and equipment (multi-cavity injection moulding, stampings, fill pumps etc.) qualifications and validations (authored protocols) is required.

It is expected that the role holder will work very closely with the Innovation and Platform development teams in conjunction with Manufacturing sites in order to optimise device design.

The role will require experience with product development for mass production in a design role. 

Key accountabilities

  • Responsible for new tooling and process qualification at factories and fill contractors.
  • Generate qualification protocols and interface with the Quality group to ensure proper implementation of processes and procedures.
  • Interface with the Innovation team to ensure a smooth transition to manufacturing.
  • Review Design For Manufacturing (DFM) reports from suppliers and fabricators.
  • Participate/organize design transfer meetings.
  • Lead Process Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (PFMEA) processes within the manufacturing group.
  • Conduct root cause analysis on product failures and document findings in reports when required.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement at the factories.
  • Responsible for ensuring correct and thorough documentation of processes and products transferred from Innovation.
  • Collaborate with the Regulatory teams

Skills & experience

  • Minimum BEng in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
  • 3 years’ experience in a high volume manufacturing environment. Experience working in a regulated environment (automotive, aerospace, medical device, pharma etc.) is preferred.
  • 1 year working with a software document control system (Arena, ASAP, Agile etc.).
  • Working knowledge with SolidWorks.
  • Frequent overseas travel.
  • Deep understanding of the pFMEA process and how to generate manufacturing control plans.
