There are many misconceptions about Next Generation Products. This creates confusion about NGPs and their potential benefits for adult smokers. It is important to understand the science relating to NGPs and how this relates to tobacco harm reduction.

As the Scientific Learning and Development Executive you will be an influential part of a brand-new team focused on developing and delivering an internal global learning, dialogue and skills building programme. This programme will be key in our vision to ensure every IMB colleague understands the concept of tobacco harm reduction, how NGPs differ from smoking and the science behind our products. You will be responsible for designing and creating engaging material for the Science Academy; developing blended learning modules to engage colleagues across all seniority levels and lead internal training sessions across our global footprint.

Key Accountabilities

  • Produce and develop blended learning modules which are creative and engaging to communicate a range of complex scientific and political concepts.
  • Liaise with subject matter experts to develop knowledge and build learning modules
  • Create assets and documentation to support trainers and participants of the Science Academy. This includes designing manuals, infographics, e-learning webinars, presentations etc.
  • Implement and deliver latest training practices, trends and technology to ensure academy is of a high standard and supports a blended learning approach to engage colleagues at all levels of seniority throughout the business.
  • Work with the scientific communications team and form good working relationships with external agencies to develop learning material for the Science Academy.
  • Lead training sessions for Imperial Brands’ employees on key topics areas relating to the product portfolio and represent the company externally at forums and roadshows to further enhance the reputation and scientific credibility of IMB.
  • Advise on emerging key topic areas for future learning, and continuously review academy content is fit to support employee learning and development.
  • Travel will be required to deliver training throughout the business.

Skills and Experience

You will ideally have the following essential skills and experience:

  • Outstanding presentation and spoken communication skills.
  • Adept at listening, questioning, explaining and giving feedback.
  • Innovative and creative approach in order to implement new methods of learning and develop engaging material.
  • Good interpersonal skills, to build relationship with people at all levels of the organisation.
  • Scientific background with an aptitude to learn quickly.
  • Strong team-working skills and excellent stakeholder management.
  • Good organisation skills and ability to manage time and meet short deadlines.
  • Flexibility to travel nationally and internationally.

The following experiences are desirable:

  • Understanding of Next Generation Products, especially e-vapour products and related science
  • Experience discussing complex topics and interacting with external stakeholders.
  • Understanding of IMB company positions.
  • Previous experience in a learning and development role.
